On behalf of the ANV, the Association for Dutch-Flemish Cooperation, we, together with Idea Consult from Brussels, explored new possibilities to enhance Dutch-Flemish collaboration in the field of internationalisation of higher education.
The research has resulted in the following recommendations and considerations for universities, governments, and other stakeholders:
- Netherlands and Flanders stronger together towards Europe
- Engage in more dialogue to achieve a better balance and moderation on both sides
- Collaboration in educational offerings can lead to more diversity
- Consider granting authority to Nuffic in Flanders
- Making collaboration successful requires energy, agreements, and funds
- Encourage structural collaboration between higher education and businesses, and align international student recruitment policies more with business needs

Jessica Steur from Dialogic and Ella Desmedt from Idea Consult presented the results on 3 June 2019 at the Flemish-Dutch House deBuren in Brussels.
(Note: Clarification for foreign readers: Flanders is the Dutch-speaking region in Belgium.)
