Digital strategy for the Metropolitan Region of Rotterdam The Hague

The Metropolitan Region Rotterdam The Hague (hereinafter: MRDH) collaborates with its municipalities on six action lines focusing on the theme of Digital Economy. One of these is the Digital Strategy action line. Within this action line, the MRDH aims to ensure that municipalities develop a digital strategy that is well-coordinated with the region. Ideally, the goals and ambitions of this strategy should align closely with the goals and ambitions of (other municipalities in) the metropolitan region and the Province of South Holland. The MRDH has enlisted the expertise of Dialogic to draft a Digital Strategy Guide that provides municipalities with a framework for establishing their own digital agenda, one that fits the municipality itself while aligning as much as possible with digital developments in the region, allowing municipalities to learn from each other's approaches. Municipalities are in need of action perspectives to effectively shape digitization and Smart City policies for purposeful, efficient, and secure use of data to address various societal challenges. In essence, the question is how municipalities can take more control and proactively implement policies regarding the use of digitization and data in conjunction with the overarching societal challenges they face. Integration is a crucial guiding principle in this context. The issue of digitization is increasingly gaining prominence not only at the municipal or regional level but also at the national and international levels. In essence, this guide aims to provide examples, building blocks, and action perspectives to enhance the digital strength of municipalities and the MRDH region.
