Provincial States of Limburg do not have a clear picture about the (extent of) issues related to the absence of Next Generation Access (NGA) in Limburg. They have decided to conduct an inventory in the area of fast Internet in Limburg. In this report, Dialogic and Intertec present the outcomes of this research. We conducted this study by interviewing approximately 25 individuals, analyzing data files, and reviewing (scientific) literature. NGA stands for Next Generation Access networks. Simply put, these are telecommunications networks that can provide fast internet connections (more than 30 Mbit/s) to households and business consumers. In white areas, NGA is not available, in grey areas there is one NGA option, and in black areas consumers can choose between two or more NGA infrastructures. An important delineation is that this report pertains to access networks and not to the underlying or overlying core networks. We also primarily focus on the physical networks and not on the services that can be provided. A final relevant delineation is that we do talk about households and business consumers, but we exclude various objects such as water treatment facilities, dike monitoring, and locks from consideration.
