Harnessing the opportunities that technology and innovation offer for addressing societal challenges is easier said than done. Every day, businesses, governments, and civil society organisations are busy finding innovative ways to become more sustainable, digitised, and transformed. The worlds of science, business, civil society organisations, and policy are collectively striving to generate new solutions for persistent societal problems. This ranges from establishing a circular economy and affordable healthcare to smart digitalisation strategies, innovative financing, and forging new knowledge coalitions.
Do you want to bridge these worlds and contribute to an innovative and sustainable society? Then a research and advisory role at Dialogic might be right for you.
What do we do at Dialogic?
Each year, we conduct over 100 applied research, evaluation, and advisory projects in domains such as innovation & entrepreneurship, science, digitalisation, sustainability, education & labour market, safety, and healthcare. Many colleagues at Dialogic are active across multiple themes.
We assist our clients with current and socially relevant questions, such as:
- How can we ensure that companies contribute as effectively as possible to societal goals like sustainability and safety?
- Which new '21st century skills' should be incorporated into educational curricula?
- How can we increase the impact of scientific research and also measure it better?
- What societal opportunities and challenges do new technologies like AI, 5G, and quantum computers bring?
To answer such questions, we employ various qualitative (interviews, case studies, etc.) and quantitative (dashboards, regressions, machine learning, etc.) research and data collection methods. We translate the research findings into understandable conclusions and recommendations. We refer to this as research-based advisory, as we always substantiate our advice with a sound analysis or knowledge base.
Our company encompasses a variety of disciplines, including innovation scientists, data scientists, business specialists, sociologists, and psychologists. You will work on multiple challenging and complex projects simultaneously, rapidly gaining insights into our economy and society. Through the projects you undertake and the roles you fulfil, you will develop into an experienced project leader, subject matter expert, and/or advisor. There are ample opportunities for advancement. Many of our senior staff and partners began their careers at Dialogic as junior or mid-level researchers/consultants.
Do you fit in with us?
We seek researchers with a passion for applied (policy) research who align well with the goals and activities of Dialogic. This entails:
- your willingness to tackle societal challenges related to themes like innovation, sustainability, digitalisation, education, the labour market, safety, and healthcare;
- your ability to collaborate and work in teams on various projects – our project-bound research and advisory work is at the heart of our company;
- your commitment to contributing to this world through applied research and offering advice in your work;
- your preference for working in the public sector, for instance, with ministries, provinces, municipalities, and executing agencies in the Netherlands and abroad (such as Flanders);
- your interest in innovation and (societal) renewal.
The only strict requirements for the position are that you:
- have completed a research-oriented WO master's degree and/or a PhD programme with good results (level and experience will determine entry as junior or mid-level);
- possess a strong interest in applied research and consultancy projects;
- are proficient in Dutch, both spoken and written.
Additionally, having a background in fields such as innovation studies, economics, organisational sciences, or business administration could be beneficial, but we explicitly welcome anyone who can energetically collaborate with us on addressing tomorrow's societal challenges. We especially encourage experienced researchers – for example, those who have recently completed their PhD or are about to do so – to apply. They have already proven themselves as good researchers and can often accelerate their advancement at Dialogic, transitioning to roles like project leader or senior researcher/consultant.
Current Needs
As of now (late 2026), we only require new junior colleagues with a strong quantitative background (data scientists) or new mid-level colleagues with a completed PhD.
