In order to regain better control over its ICT knowledge and skills, the Dutch government intends to intensively collaborate with higher education institutions, both in the field of ICT education and research. This was recently established by the steering group 'Collaboration Higher Education and Government', partly based on research conducted by Dialogic.

Commissioned by the Dutch government, Dialogic conducted research last spring on promising forms of collaboration. Among other stakeholders, we interviewed a large number within the government, colleges and universities. The main conclusion is that the attractiveness of the Dutch government as a partner for higher education can be increased by collaborating on content. The government can achieve this by introducing challenging, socially relevant issues into the curriculum and simultaneously providing resources to research those issues. One of the recommendations is to focus on a national IT development agenda where research and education go hand in hand.

The full research report by Dialogic will be published later this year. Want to know more? Read the article Steering group focuses on Partnership in higher ICT education and research or contact Robbin te Velde.

I am fascinated by the philosophy of science ('What is true? What is a fact?') and research as a craft.
