Acquiring new knowledge fills me with energy every day, and I enjoy sharing this knowledge with clients and other interested parties. My work mainly focuses on research in (higher) education, science, and valorisation. I am specialised in admission and selection in education, student flows & behaviour, and academic startups. However, I have a broader interest and occasionally delve into a completely new topic. In my research, I use both qualitative methods (surveys, interviews, document analysis, qualitative comparative analysis) and quantitative methods (regressions, bibliometrics, text mining, web scraping). Before joining Dialogic, I worked as a teacher, researcher, and PhD candidate at Utrecht University. My dissertation is about university admission and selection, where I analysed student success and diversity based on admission files. I also contributed to the Handbook for Higher Education Admission. Additionally, I was temporarily seconded as a researcher at the Rathenau Institute, where I studied valorisation and its funding in Dutch science. My research has been presented at various (scientific) conferences, published in peer-reviewed journals, and has received media attention. I completed a Master's and Bachelor's degree in innovation sciences for my PhD, specialising in innovative entrepreneurship. In my free time, I enjoy sports. I used to row at a high level, but nowadays I mostly do crossfit and weightlifting. I also like to challenge my brain with a strategic board game or a good non-fiction book. During holidays, I prefer to seek out mountains to hike up or ski down from.
