Meet Daan
I am Daan, and I have been working as a junior researcher and consultant at Dialogic since April 2026. I have a background in Liberal Arts & Sciences (BA) with a specialisation in International Relations, and Conflict Studies & Human Rights (MA) from Utrecht University. This background provides me with a deep theoretical and conceptual foundation in the social and political sciences, as well as a strong proficiency in qualitative research methods. Moreover, through previous work experience and involvement in various societal organisations and research groups, I possess substantial expertise in the areas of security, resilience, foreign policy, and current issues at the intersection of society and conflict.
Within Dialogic, I mainly focus on research and evaluations relating to security & resilience and education & science policy. I am particularly passionate about research projects with a strong societal component. Currently, I am involved in the midterm evaluation of the Dutch Cybersecurity Strategy, commissioned by the Research and Documentation Centre (WODC). In this project, I am responsible for analysing progress on action points, preparing reflective discussions with stakeholders, and contributing to the recalibration of the strategic direction.
When I am not working, exercising, or spending time with friends, I am often reading (fiction) or writing (journalism). Additionally, I try to surround myself as much and as often as possible with trees, water, and fresh air.
